The prognosis table uses the depth of information in the SimulConsult database to illustrate the unfolding of the disease over time.  PCORI-funded studies have demonstrated that such a display is understandable and highly valued by both clinicians and families.  The prognosis table makes it clear what issues to expect and what specialties should be involved, making intuitively clear the issues of variable expression.

The richness of the displays illustrates the diagnostically important detail used by the SimulConsult diagnosic decision support software.  A simplistic analysis would have just a list of findings in a disease, but SimulConsult uses detailed onset information and information about the frequency of findings in a disease, crucial information for ranking diseases in a differential diagnosis, suggesting useful findings, and indicating pertinence of findings already entered, including pertinent genes.
